Duration:
9 Days and 8 Nights
Depart Washington Dulles Airport for overnight flight to Accra-Ghana.
Day 2:
After breakfast, we will tour Accra, the capital city of Ghana. Venues of interest include the Dr. W. E. B Dubois Center, and Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum. We will also visit the Artist Alliance Center, University of Ghana, Legon, and Achimota Secondary School. The rest of the afternoon will be spent shopping at the Accra Arts & Crafts Center where you will have the opportunity to put your bargaining skills to the test shopping for Arts, Crafts, Jewelry, and African fabrics.
Evening: Welcome Dinner at Hotel; Dinner and Cultural Dance Performance included.
Day 3:
After an early continental breakfast and check out of the hotel, we will embark on a drive to Cape Coast, the capital city of the Central Region. Our drive will take us through Obuasi, one of the main gold mining centers in Ghana and operational headquarters of Anglogold Ashanti Limited.
Upon entering the Central Region, we will stop at Assin Manso and visit Nkonkoso, the Slave River where captured Africans were allowed their last bath before being shipped as slaves to the Americas. We will also visit the Monument of Return located at the tomb of Samuel Carson (from the US) and Crystal (from Jamaica), both African Ancestors/Slaves returned to the motherland.
We will arrive in Elmina in the early afternoon and transfer to our hotel for check in. After refreshing ourselves, we will drive to the Elmina (St. Georges) Castle classified as a United Nations World Heritage Site. Revisit history and “Slavery, a crime against Humanity.”
After the castle tour, walk to the local fishing harbor located outside the castle to learn more about the main source of employment for a majority of the citizens of Elmina.
After dinner, the evening will be spent at your leisure.
Day 4:
After breakfast, we will head out to Kakum National Park, Ghana’s premier eco-tourism destination, to experience the exhilarating heights and view from the Canopy Walk -- a bridge suspended more than 100 feet above the floor of a tropical rainforest.
After a buffet lunch at the park, we return to Cape Coast for a City Tour of Cape Coast.
Venues of interest include the University of Cape Coast and the numerous Secondary Schools, (High Schools) established by Christian Missionaries during the Colonial era. The group will also go on a tour of Cape Coast Castle, another Slave Fort classified as United Nations World Heritage Site.
After dinner, the evening will be spent at your leisure.
Day 5:
After breakfast and hotel check out, the group will depart Cape Coast for Accra. The drive provides views of palm tree fringed beaches and fishing villages along the Atlantic Ocean.
After lunch at White Sands Beach Resort and Spa Ghana located at Gomoa Fetteh, spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing on the golden sand, beach or engaging in a variety of water recreational activities.
Late afternoon we arrive in Accra and check in at the Labadi Beach Hotel. After dinner, spend the evening at your leisure.
Day 6:
Spend the day at your leisure, shopping, packing arts and crafts purchased during your tour, or running last minute errands. Spend the evening sampling nightlife in Accra.

Day 9:
Spend the morning completing your packing for the return trip to the USA.
Check out of the hotel and transfer to Kotoka International Airport in the afternoon for check in for return flight to the US. Upon completion of airport check-in, transfer to Fellowship Guest Inn, where you will stay until your flight departs.
After a Farewell Dinner and an opportunity to say your goodbyes, transfer to the airport for final check in for flight with a 10:25 p.m. departure for Washington Dulles Airport.

- Standard processing time is 10-13 weeks. Expedited processing (for an additional fee) takes 7-9 weeks.
3. Do I have to take any shots for Ghana? -
- Recommended vaccinations are for yellow fever Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Typhoid, and routine vaccines (MMR, DPT, etc.)
4. If I get ill on the trip, will there be doctors/hospitals to take care of me? Will the doctors or medical facilities take credit cards?
- Yes, major hospitals and clinics in urban areas typically accept credit cards, but it’s advisable to check in advance and carry some cash. It is highly recommended that you have travel insurance.

- The direct flight time from Washington D.C. to Accra, Ghana is approximately 10-12 hours.
2. What is the time difference between Ghana and DC?
- Ghana is typically 4-5 hours ahead of Washington D.C., depending on daylight saving time in the U.S.
3. What class are our seats?
We will all have economy seats.
4. Are we seated together as a group?
Yes, the airlines try to seat groups together.
5. Will anyone be assigned a middle seat?
We will draw numbers to see who gets middle seats.
6. Is all our ground transportation air conditioned?
Yes, all of our ground transportation is air conditioned.

1. Should I bring any cash? If yes, how much would you recommend?
- Yes, it’s advisable to bring some cash for small purchases and emergencies.
2. Are US credit cards accepted at large and small vendors?
- Large vendors and hotels generally accept US credit cards. Small vendors might prefer cash.

1. What kind of dress is expected for the arrival and departure dinners?
- Smart casual or business casual attire is typically appropriate.

1. Will we have a chance to have our hair braided? What is the price range for hair braiding?

- Yes, you can bring hair extensions or products from the US.
3. If we buy souvenirs, can we have them shipped to the US? Is shipping expensive?

4. What type of souvenirs are most popular to buy in Ghana?
- Popular souvenirs include Kenta cloth, wooden carvings, beads, and traditional jewelry.
5. Is there a dollar limit of what we can bring back to the states? How much is US duties?
- US Customs allows $800 worth of duty-free goods per person. Anything above that may be subject to duties.
6. Are we allowed to bring back gold jewelry?
- Yes, you can bring back gold jewelry, but it must be declared.
7. Do we need to bring electrical adapters?
- Yes, Ghana uses 220V with type D and G plugs, so you will need an adapter.
8. Will our cell phones work fine in Ghana? How much does a local SIM card cost?
- Check with your carrier about international roaming. Alternatively, you can buy a local SIM card.
9. What if we would like to visit someplace that is not on our tour? If yes, what’s the deadline for letting you know? You can suggest places you would like to visit prior to the tour or 24 hours prior to the visit when we are in Ghana.
10. Do we have single/double hotel rooms? How are roommates selected? You can request a roommate, prior to the trip; otherwise, roommates are selected by randomly.
